ANALYTICAL REDUNDANCY DESIGN WITH TRIPLE CT SENSOR PAIRS FOR CT SENSOR FAULT DIAGNOSTICS
The OCEAN SEVEN 333 28Hz CTD with two redundant CT channels uses both hardware and analytical redundancy to enhance the reliability of measurements by using a third CT sensor pair.
The risk of data loss due to sensor drift and fouling during long field campaigns is minimised.
The OCEAN SEVEN 333 CTD represents a real breakthrough in the concept of miniaturisation, integration and performance, the adoption of a new generation of electronic devices, the OS 333 CTD can guarantee sampling rates up to 28Hz without degradation of the measurement performance.
IDRONAUT prides itself on the design of its full ocean depth, pump free, low maintenance sensors.
The OS333 CTD does not require pumps or any other external device to flush the 3 x C/T pair, which minimizes its power consumption.
The OCEAN SEVEN 333 can be used as stand alone CTD or as high performance slave CTD of an OCEAN SEVEN 316Plus.
- ADVANCED MULTI-PARAMETER PROFILING PACKAGE:
The OS333 capability enhances the OCEAN SEVEN 316Plus multi-parameter probe CTD performances by acting as high-resolution redundant CTD slave unit. The OS316Plus multi-parameter probe can provide environmental data from sensors including, but no limited to:
» 3xTemperature, 3xConductivity, 1xPressure (OS333)
» Polarographic or/and Optical Dissolved Oxygen
» pH and Redox
» Chl-a, Turbidity, PAR, Altimeter, Transmissometer
» Water sampler (Rosette)
- REAL TIME:
The OS333 can deliver real time data, including derived parameters (Salinity, Density and Sound velocity) in engineering units through the built-in RS232C or optional data telemetry (10Km) interface using a plain ASCII protocol with a user configurable rate from 2Hz up to 28Hz.
- CONDUCTIVITY CELL:
The Idronaut high accuracy seven-platinum-ring quartz conductivity cell (patented) large diameter (8mm) and short length (46 mm) quartz tube guarantees self-flushing and minimal fouling.
The OS 333 CTD is equipped with a 4-Gbyte SD memory card, which allows the storing of about 60M data sets, each one being composed of the reading of the CTD sensors plus the acquisition date and time. USB high speed interface reduces data uploading time. Inside the OS 333 CTD housing is installed a “AA” Li-SOCI2 Lithium non-rechargeable battery (3.6V, 2.4 Ah), alternativley a rechargeable 3.6V, 4.5 Ah type “26650” lithium ion battery can be installed.
The OS333 multiparameter CTD can be equipped with the following sensors to measure:
(1) Optional: 0.01% FS.
(2) At 1 m/second flow rate.
The fundamental properties of seawater like: Salinity, Sound Speed, Water Density, Oxygen ppm are obtained using the algorithms described in the UNESCO “Technical papers in marine science no.44 – Algorithms for computation of fundamental properties of sea water”.
The fresh water properties like: TDS (Total Dissolved Solids), Fresh Water Conductivity corrected at 20°C and 25°C are automatically calculated.
- FULL OCEAN DATA TELEMETRY:
The OS333 can be equipped with a full ocean, full duplex IDRONAUT QAM data telemetry system that allows data to be transmitted in real time over standard oceanographic coaxial cables up to 10Km long by using the IDRONAUT MKPlus deck unit.
- CONDUCTIVITY SENSOR ANTIFOULING:
The conductivity pairs can integrate a UV led (280nm), which sterilises the sample under measurement, thus retarding early growth of biofouling inside the quartz measuring cell.
- HIGH PRECISION PRESSURE TRANSDUCER:
An optional high precision 0.01% FS pressure transducer can be installed.
