Product literature - Brochure

The OCEAN SEVEN EA/89 has been designed to meet the needs of environmental agencies operators, in particular of the Environment Agency of England and Wales, daily working in harsh and hostile environments with any meteorological and marine conditions.
The OCEAN SEVEN EA/89 multiparameter probe completes the line of high quality and accuracy OCEAN SEVEN probes, fulfilling the demand for a high performance multiparameter probe characterized by an extremely low power consumption, small dimensions and lightweight corrosionfree housing. The OCEAN SEVEN EA/89 is equipped with the IDRONAUT pressure compensated low maintenance sensors and can accurately operate both in salt or fresh water environments. The user can easily select the required conductivity sensor measuring range. Wired and wireless communications allow a direct connection with portable computers. The OCEAN SEVEN EA/89 is an ideal choice for both on-line profiling and self-recording moored applications. The probe uses state-of-the-art electronics and sensors and is equipped with a 512-Mbyte logging memory.
Calibration coefficients and probe configuration are stored in the internal non-volatile memory.

SELF LOGGING - SAMPLING MODES
User selectable sampling modes like: Real time, Continuous, Pressure, Timed, Conditional and Burst. Apart from real time, which is used when a direct connection with the probe is available, the other sampling modes can be easily configured in the laboratory and activated in the field by acting on the probe ON/OFF switch. Acquired data is stored in the internal non-volatile memory that can be retrieved afterwards.

REAL-TIME COMMUNICATIONS
The OCEAN SEVEN EA89 probe communicates with a PC through the standard RS232C (max 100m) or with the optional RS422 (max 1km) and the IDRONAUT FSK Telemetry (max 2km)

SOFTWARE
ITERM: terminal emulation programme to easily communicate with the probe using the probe integrated operator interface and upload stored data.
REDAS-5: allows taking full control of the OCEAN SEVEN EA89 CTD multiparameter probe and facilitates real- time data acquisitions and uploading of data stored in the probe memory. REDAS-5 shows the acquired data graphically and numerically thus allowing the operator to dynamically change the graphical and numerical set-up during data acquisition. Post processing functions and data extraction procedures, in function of time, pressure or numerical intervals, can be applied to acquired data in real time or on data retrieved from the probe memory. REDAS-5 software alloews 8 and 12 Hz sampling rate.
THIRD-PARTY SOFTWARE: the EA789 CTD can be easily interfaced by third-party software (like Trimble Hydropro software) thanks to the built-in fully documented PTP communication protocol.

DATA STORAGE AND BATTERY
The OCEAN SEVEN EA89 CTD multiparameter probe allows the storing of about 4,000,000 data sets each one being composed of the reading of the standard sensors plus the acquisition date and time. The EA89 probe is powered by a rechargeable NiMH battery pack (9.6 V 4.5 A/h) which is housed in the probe sealed compartment. Therefore, in case of an accidental water leakage (or in case of a battery leakage), only the battery compartment is flooded while the rest of the probe electronics and components are protected. The battery pack allows the probe to continuously operate for up to 90 hours.

TELEMETRY PORTABLE DECK UNIT
The Telemetry Portable Deck Unit powers and interfaces, by coaxial cables, the probe with a personal computer. The portable deck unit is equipped with a transceiver (modem) which allows half-duplex communication with the probe. The portable deck unit is housed in a waterproof plastic case and is provided with an internal mains rechargeable lead battery (12V DC, 7 A/h) which permits probe operation even in the absence of the mains supply. The portable deck unit comes complete with an international battery charger: 115/220VAC +/-10%, 50-60 Hz +/-5%. Telemetry power supply: 30V DC (max 0.3A@12 V). Dimensions: 340 x 300 x 160 mm. Weight: 6.5 kg The EA/89 CTD can be interfaced with a portable reader (PDA). In this case, a dedicated programme allows the operator to carry out sensor maintenance and data acquisition in real time.

BLUETOOTH Wireless Interface
The optional BLUETOOTH wireless interface allows the probe to communicate from any device supporting a compatible Bluetooth™ SPP protocol v1.1. Connection with the probe is protected by means of the unique 8-digit PIN code which identifies each OCEAN SEVEN EA89 probe. The wireless module is activated by means of a dedicated magnetic rotary switch present on the probe top cover.
