:: PORTABLE MONITOR

The Portable Monitor is housed in a watertight, robust and easy to carry plastic housing.
The Portable Monitor electronics allows the communication, through a telemetry system, with all IDRONAUT OCEAN SEVEN Probes. Depending on the operating mode, data acquired from the underwater unit is collected and stored on the internal memory of the Portable Monitor. There are two kinds of memory: the standard 1 Mbytes memory and the optional flash card memory that can be up to 96 Mbytes wide. The number of acquisitions that can be collected and stored depends on the number of sensors installed in the underwater unit. A section of the Operator’s Manual describes how to calculate the memory autonomy. Anyhow, the Portable Monitor does it for you and shows the memory capability on the display.The LCD display and the three push buttons are mounted on the housing lid thus allowing the operator to manage data acquisition and storing activity with the deck unit closed. Connection with the external system (personal computer, underwater unit, battery recharger) is available on the right side of the Portable Monitor through watertight connectors. The operation selector (ON/OFF switch) together with the telemetry regulation knobs, is placed on the internal top cover.
Two kinds of Portable Monitor are available: ASK Telemetry Portable Monitor and FSK Telemetry Portable Monitor, depending on application and kind of connection cable used. The ASK telemetry is well suited for small winches that use relatively short cables, less than 1,500 m, whereas. the FSK telemetry operates with cables up to 10 km long.Apart from the above, the two Portable Monitors are identical.

  The Portable Monitor can be operated in different modes:
Transparent, Local, Remote and Watch.

>The “Transparent” operating mode allows the operator to use the Portable Monitor as a “Communication” converter and probe power supply; the connected probe is managed through a personal computer and the Portable Monitor keyboard and display are not used.

>The “Local” operating mode allows the operator to benefit by the Portable Monitor built-in capabilities. The connected probe and data acquisition functions are performed by the operator by means of the Display and Keyboard Portable Monitor.
>The “Remote” operating mode allows the operator to configure the Portable Monitor and recover data stored by means of the “Local” operating mode.
>The “Watch” operating mode is under development and should allow the interfacing of surface sensors by adding their acquisition to the underwater unit data stream.
