The function of the Portable deck Unit is to power and interface, by telemetry, the underwater unit with a personal Computer. This unit contains a rechargeable lead battery ( 12V-7 A/h) which allows up to 20 hours of continuous operation even without external power.
The portable deck unit is provided with: an adjustable power supply to power the probe, an external power supply to recharge the 12V internal battery and a telemetry system which allows the PC and the underwater unit to communicate.
The first aim of the Portable Unit, as its name states, is to be, joined with the underwater unit, a portable system.

This is possible taking advantage of the lightweight and small dimensions of the underwater unit and of the deck unit.
Furthermore, this allows the underwater unit to be used from small vessels -where the mains supply does not exist without losing or degrading the system measurement performance.
The main difference between the Portable Deck Unit and the MK Deck Unit is the voltage applied to the sea cable and therefore to the underwater unit. This deck unit can supply 30V DC at the most. the sea cable voltage can be regulated through the "VOLTAGE Adj". Knob to optimize the voltage loss over the cable
